In a world of drones dominated by standard designs, the QuadRKT is certainly different. It is neither the usual quadcopter nor the fixed wing design, but rather a combination that allows for vertical take off and landing as well as horizontal flight. This allows it to take off and land from very tight places but still fly at high speeds for longer times. The design was originally developed by the US government for military applications but was not pursued because the design was considered “too risky”.
The QuadRKT team has started a Kickstarter campaign in order to fund the development of their new design. If successful, the QuadRKT promises to have a very low drag coefficient and top speeds of 100 miles per hour. The team intends to build several different sizes for different applications and at different price points.
